In case you did not hear of last years’ inaugural event, REZILIENCE is a two day exhibition that brings together more than 12 established organizations and a number of creative professionals to share their programs, talents, skills and knowledge in 12 creative and interactive arenas. This year REZILIENCE is once again held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center – NHCC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ART Event will be held all day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at NHCC campus on Sunday, April 30.

Program event sections titled “Voice,” “Movement,” “Design,” “Inspire,” “Insight,” “Vision,” “Create,” “Expression,” “Style,” “Innovate,” “Sustenance,” and “Exchange” will feature various disciplines and creative activities.

From the REZILIENCE/REZARTX website, “Re-zil-ience (re’zilyens) noun/verb: Is defined as a collective and individual response to cultural erasure and genocide.”

In addition to the REZILIENCE Indigenous Arts Experience, the REZARTX organizers of the event held a “Fun-Raiser” in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday, March 31, in support of their 2nd Annual REZILIENCE event coming up on April 29 and 30.

Aside from live music, they offered live art events and a live auction of donated artwork. You can still participate or support by going to their website. If you donate, you will receive a copper or silver Unity Cuff Bracelet, 2-Day Dream Passes for the event and other rewards. Some artist/vendor spaces are still available, volunteers are always needed, and you can see what events you can bring your family to.

There will also be an “EXCHANGE” Marketplace that will feature products from various Indigenous artisans and communities and will provide vendors the ability to connect with diverse audiences. This year, REZARTX will feature 40 artists/businesses and encourages anyone who didn’t sell last year to apply. Booth spaces are still available so apply as soon as possible.

Loren Aragon of ACONAV Fashions and Design will represent again and NDNcraft.com is calling for designers and models for a new “TRADISH” Fashion Show. Planned activities are for a ‘zine project for young students, a printmaking session, live art collaborations, interactive art installations, workshops, film screenings, music, poetry, panel discussions, community conversations, health and fitness activities, technology demonstrations, as well as artists and vendors.

REZILIENCE partners include: National Hispanic Cultural Center, Heard Museum, Institute of American Indian Arts, SITE Santa Fe, Wings of America, RezonateArt, Working Classroom, NDNcraft.com, Grownup Navajo, Immastar Productions, Pueblo of Santa Ana Department of Natural Resources, The Harwood Art Center, Native POP, and Tewa Women United.

Albuquerque will be a busy and fun place all the week at the end of April with REZILIENCE, the Gathering of Nations, Electric 49, Nizhoni Days Pow Wow, and related events, so plan accordingly.
