Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits Group Shift Leadership
This past January 29th, Chicksaw Miko Thomas and Chippewa Derek Smith stepped aside as co-chairs of the Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits (BAAITS) group, the San Francisco Bay Times reports. They are stepping aside so an intergeneration duo can take over the coordination of political and social activities.
Miko Thomas performs in drag as "the outrageous Landa Lakes," the Bay Times reports, and both he and Smith were given praise, and beautiful ceremonial blankets, at a meeting with fellow members at the LGBT Center. For more on the story, read here.
