As we reported yesterday, Kyle Lohse, Nomlaki Wintun, was asked to start the season on the mound for the reigning World Series champion Cardinals against the Florida Marlins in their brand new Marlins park. All he did was retired the first ten batters he faced and pitch a no-hitter into the 7th inning.

The right-hander pitched 7.1 innings, giving up only two hits and one run, striking out three. It was a solid way to start the season, getting a win on opening day with an ERA of 1.23. The Cardinals beat the Marlins 4-1 thanks to the pitching of Lohse and big days at the plate for World Series MVP David Freese and short stop Rafael Furcal, who each notched three hits.
