Man's children show pride in once-hidden background
As a youngster, John Norwood was so conditioned to hide his American Indian heritage that he lost touch with his tribe and its traditions. "I grew up knowing that I had Indian blood," the Moorestown man said, "but the discussions of our heritage were always in hushed terms." Norwood, now a leader in the Bridgeton-based Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indian tribe, said he gets teary-eyed just thinking of the ways his children can publicly and proudly claim their lineage.
