WinnaVegas Casino Opens Road to Cars, Ditches Duck Boats
The road to the WinnaVegas Casino Resort in Sloan, Iowa has dried up, and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska plans to open it to cars and stop ferrying customers to the gaming house in duck boats.
The casino closed June 10 due to rising waters from the Missouri River that shut down the county road. So the tribe reopened its casino on July 27. Three duck boats shuttled people to and from the gaming facility across the two-feet-deep waters. Rides cost $10; then patrons received a $10 coupon to play the games, reported the Sioux City Journal.
Chairman John Blackhawk expected the novelty of the transportation to attract some people to the gaming house, reported KCAU-TV.
"Obviously we've been down a little bit, because of the fact that people have to ride shuttles in, so once they start bringing in their own cars, I think we're going to get back to where we were before, and I think we're going to do great," construction manager Jonnathan Audiss told KMEG-TV.
