Earth Day hearing set
Tara Houska, Ojibwe attorney and founder of Giniw Collective, is one of five people set to testify in Thursday’s Environment subcommittee hearing.
The Earth Day hearing is titled, “The Role of Fossil Fuel Subsidies in Preventing Action on the Climate Crisis.”
Climate activist Greta Thunberg is also set to testify.

Biden pushes for momentum as US returns to climate fight
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is convening a coalition of the willing, the unwilling, the desperate-for-help and the avid-for-money for a global summit Thursday aimed at rallying the world’s worst polluters to move faster against climate change.
The president’s first task: Convincing the world that the politically fractured United States isn’t just willing when it comes to Biden’s new ambitious emissions-cutting pledges, but also able.
Success for Biden in the virtual summit of 40 leaders will be making his expected promises — halving coal and petroleum emissions at home and financing climate efforts abroad — believable enough to persuade other powers to make big changes of their own.

NDN Collective announces 2021 cohort
Twenty-one Indigenous leaders were named 2021 NDN Changemakers Fellows.
The NDN Collective announced the fellows on Wednesday.
“It’s a true blessing to support such a committed group of Changemakers. They epitomize the fortitude and persistence of our people– those who are dedicated to building their communities, changing their communities, and loving their communities. We all thrive because of people like them. They are the leaders, the organizers, the teachers and healers we need for the future generations,” said Gaby Strong, NDN Foundation managing director, said in a statement.

Honorees selected for Native Hall of Honor
Four recipients have been recognized in the North Dakota Native American Hall of Honor. The program recognizes traditional and contemporary achievements.
Dave Dauphinais, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, Lydia Sage Chase, Mark Fox, both of the Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation and Sitting Bull, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe are the 2021 inductees.
