It is one of two Indigenous films nominated for an Oscar in 2023. Actress and activist Sacheen Littlefeather was just 26 years old when she stunned the Academy Awards in 1973 by rejecting the best actor Oscar on behalf of Marlon Brando because of the injustices in the way Indigenous people were treated in the film and television industries. Film academy finally apologizes to Sacheen Littlefeather
