Miles Morrisseau

Miles Morrisseau is a Metis Writer, Journalist and Multi-Media Producer from the Metis Homeland in Manitoba. He began his career as a Writer/Broadcaster for CBC Radio in Winnipeg in1985. He produced documentaries on Sunday Morning, CBC’s radio’s flagship documentary program. As National Native Affairs Broadcaster he covered the Mohawk Gambling War in Akwesasne, the Death of the Meech Lake Accord and was imbedded with a team of Indigenous supporters who smuggled in food and medicine during the Oka Crisis. He was Editor in Chief of Nativebeat, the Beat of a Different Drum which was chosen best Native American Monthly by the Native American Journalists Association. He was Editor of Aboriginal Voices Magazine and in 1999 served as Editor in Chief of Indian Country Today. He produced Buffalo Tracks with Evan Adams for APTN. He was the Program Manager who helped launch Streetz FM the first radio station by and for Indigenous Youth. He has six children and seven grandchildren with his partner Shelly Bressette. He lives and works in the historic Metis community of Grand Rapids, Manitoba on the last piece of Metis scrip land still in the hands of Metis people.
