The Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation has been selected as one of eight demonstration sites for a new U.S. Department of Justice initiative called Defending Childhood, which includes a grant for $153,210 for the Chippewa Cree Tribe. The initiative focuses on addressing children’s exposure to violence. The goals of Defending Childhood are to prevent exposing children to violence as victims and witnesses, mitigate the negative effects experienced by children exposed to violence and develop knowledge about and increase awareness of the issue.
