Who We Are

ICT is a national Indigenous newsroom. It is the flagship editorial brand of IndiJ Public Media — a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public charity. The organization is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. What began more than 40 years ago as Lakota Times, a weekly newspaper founded by the late Tim Giago, has grown into the largest news organization serving Native American communities in the country.

Today, ICT delivers award-winning journalism across multiple digital, social and broadcast platforms. It reaches local, national and global audiences with accurate, independent and culturally grounded coverage. Our content is free. Our journalism is not for sale.

MISSION

To provide accurate, independent, and culturally grounded journalism that informs Indigenous communities and expands public understanding of Indigenous peoples, sovereignty and contemporary issues.

VISION

A media landscape where Indigenous voices lead coverage of Indigenous stories and journalism serves the public good.

ICT offers partners something rare in today’s media landscape:
Scale, Trust, and Indigenous-led journalism rooted in community accountability.

What Sets ICT Apart

No other news organization matches the reach or depth of ICT’s digital and broadcast coverage in Indigenous communities and beyond. This covers stories that impact Indigenous communities. We have a deep knowledge of culture, legal frameworks, and tribal sovereignty. This skill leads to precise, contextualized reporting. It is more than just proximity to a dateline.
