BROOKS, Calif. – Deanna Cloud-Moore brings more than 20 years of health care services and administration as the new tribal health director of the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians.
“It is important for us to focus our attention on the health and welfare of our people by providing them with support for their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being,” said Tribal Chairman Marshall McKay. “Ms. Cloud-Moore brings a wide range of experience and extensive knowledge in these areas. Providing quality health care is important for all tribal family members. Laying a foundation of education for healthy living is vital to our future.”
In her new role, Cloud-Moore is responsible for the health division and serves as an advocate for tribal members in obtaining quality health care for themselves and their families as well as assisting with the planning and implementation of the health goals set forth by the Tribal Health and Wellness Committee.
She attended Northland College with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology and Native American education. She also received numerous certificates from the National Learning Network. Among the many special awards and certificates she has received, she became president of the American Indians Against Abuse board of directors in October 2007.
“I am honored and excited to work with the members of the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians,” Cloud-Moore said. “Understanding the importance of healthy lifestyles and choices for tribal members and their families is key to the long term success of the tribe and I look forward to helping establish such programs.”
The majority of her health care experience has been devoted to providing quality health care services and networks to Native communities and Native people. She is a member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Indians, located in northern Wisconsin, and has worked in health programs with them for more than 17 years.
