Statement from Taysha:
I am currently fighting charges stemming from my resistance to Enbridge Line 3, in the beginning, my plan was to take the plea deal to show other defendants that it is okay to do so, taking a plea deal does not make you a traitor to the movement, however the agreement included staying away from and off of Enbridge Property AND pipelines, this agreement is binding, and unreasonable, as there are multiple pipelines that snake through my reservation, I would be denied my federally protected treaty rights, I hunt fish and gather with the seasons all year long. As a Mother with 4 children I do this to sustain my family. I can not trespass on my own lands, and I will not stand for a foreign oil company to hold more rights on my own reservation then myself or my children.
