10/02/08 – Manitoba boy, 5, dies while in care of family services agency

Another child has died while in the care of the Awasis child and family services agency in northern Manitoba — the second death in two weeks, CBC News has learned. The child, a five-year-old boy from Shamattawa, Man., a remote reserve 750 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, drowned in a lake about two kilometres from his foster home in Cross Lake, also in northern Manitoba.
