Want to hear a Nipmuc Indian drumming circle? Or learn about the symbolism behind graveyard art? Or visit the childhood home of former U.S. Poet Laureate Stanley Kunitz? Or tour a well-preserved 19th-century general store? All of these events, and hundreds more, will be available over the Columbus Day weekend, during the fourth annual “Footsteps in History” events happening throughout the Blackstone Valley. From sites such as the Hassanamisco Indian Museum in Grafton to the recently converted “green” mill space at Alternatives in Whitinsville, Footsteps in History will help visitors experience 500 years of history in three days.
