“We came here in the belly of a big bird,” Tomas “Eagle Bear” Shash said to the crowd at Stone Fence Gardens on Sunday. Shash, a descendant of the Mimbres Apache tribe, travels the East Coast during the winter months to educate elementary and middle schools about American Indians.
