On Saturday, October 27, Marcus Oliveira, Menominee Nation, dominated his opponent, Ricky Torrez, scoring a first-round TKO. The match was stopped at 2:41, making Oliveira the new WBA Federol Light Heavyweight Champion. The rising star Oliveira, from Keshena, Wisconsin, is now 24-0 with 19 knockouts.
Saturday’s fight was held in Caracas, Venezuela, and scheduled to go nine rounds. But Oliveira simply outclassed and outpowered Torrez, a Bolivian fighter.
Next up will be a bout with a top contender or one of the current world champs, likely IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud, back in the U.S. early next year. Stay tuned.
