DENVER ? The American Indian College Fund recently announced a ,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of the United Parcel Service. The UPS Foundation was formed in 1951 and is focused on supporting specific areas that will have a definite social impact. In 2001, the UPS Foundation donated million worldwide.
The American Indian College Fund itself was first set up in 1989. The Denver-based non-profit organization distributes scholarships and support to tribal colleges across the country. More than 5,000 American Indian students are supported in getting a college education each year through the College Fund. It also supports endowments, developmental needs and public awareness, as well as college programs in native cultural preservation and teacher training.
