A former Box Elder cash clerk was sentenced to four years of probation Sept. 18 for stealing nearly $20,000 from the tribe. As a cash clerk, Avis Morsette, 37, handled fees for hunting and fishing licenses, as well as tribal identification cards. Morsette was convicted of felony theft charges for embezzling more than $19,790 between October 1997 and December 1998, court documents show.
