American Indian activists and others demonstrated at the University of North Dakota on Wednesday as they sought to ratchet up pressure on the state Board of Education to keep its deadline to decide the fate of the school’s Fighting Sioux nickname. More than 50 people gathered at the Memorial Union building to call on board members to keep their Thursday deadline for deciding on whether to keep or get rid of the nickname and Indian head logo. The board will discuss the matter Thursday morning.
