” This year’s largest Western Slope powwow commences today, with the Indian Nations Powwow making its first appearance in Montrose. The convergence of Indian Nations kicks off when the Indian Market opens at noon in Friendship Hall at the Fairgrounds. The market will be followed by a wide range of colorful cultural events through Sunday, from gourd dancing to a drum-and-dance contest, with participants coming from as far as Canada.
