Yesterday SouthWind Casinos kicked off grand opening festivities to celebrate the completion of phase II of its gaming facility in Braman, Oklahoma—just south of the Kansas border. The casino is home to 301 new gaming machines that offer denominations between $.01 to $10 per bet with jackpots of up to $80,000.
The casino hosted a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony on December 9, moments before doors opened to the public. In attendance were numerous members of the Kaw Nation Council and Board.

“This expansion is a win-win-win for the area,” said Pam Shaw, COO of Gaming and Entertainment for the Kaw Nation, in a release. “Not only will the Kaw Nation achieve its goal of increasing revenues, but 47 new jobs have been added to the local economy while I-35 travelers will have an even better facility where they can relax and play. We could not be more pleased with this addition.”
Designed by Tulsa’s BKL Architecture and constructed by Red Stone Construction, the new facility adds 10,000 square feet to the existing Braman-based casino.
The space also features the new 231 Bistro & Bar. Open 24 hours, the bistro seats 16 and features paninis, salads, local craft beers, custom cocktails, and a full bar. Future development includes plans for a hotel and resort.
