College officials visited the Monacan Indian Nation tribal facility on Bear Mountain last weekend as part of a statewide college outreach to Native Americans throughout the state from middle school to high school. The Virginia Indians Pre-College Outreach Initiative is a five-year effort funded by a grant, said Elaine Humphrey, associate director for research and development at Virginia Tech’s Center for Academic Enrichment and Excellence.
