Two Macy residents have been charged with manslaughter in the death of a 21-year-old man on the reservation. On June 28 U.S. Attorney Mike Heavican charged Angel Merrick, 20, and Kareem Lakota Robinson, 18, in the death of Brandon Horn. Horn’s body was found about 5 p.m. the previous Saturday in a field about 40 yards from the edge of Macy. The criminal complaint alleges Merrick, Robinson and three juveniles killed Horn. The cause of death has not been released because of the ongoing investigation. The three juveniles were not named in the criminal complaint, and Heavican said the government would proceed against them separately. He did not rule out further charges against Merrick and Robinson. Manslaughter carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Horn was an Omaha tribal member who lived on a rural part of the reservation.
