ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Santa Ana Star Casino employees painted 28 model ponies and raised more than $700 to benefit the Barrett Foundation, an independent, nonprofit organization that helps homeless women and children establish better lives. Each pony was painted by hand and auctioned off to casino guests and employees.

“Santa Ana Star Casino is proud to support an organization that helps homeless women and children gain the skills and resources to find a place to live. We are always looking for opportunities to help our local community as we were able to donate $735.50 to the Barrett Foundation from the painted pony auction,” said Scott Eldredge, general manager of Santa Ana Star Casino. The blue pony in the front of the photo was purchased for $80.

The Barrett Foundation, founded by Brother Mathias Barrett, has provided food, clothing and shelter to homeless women and children for the past 20-years. The organization provides case management, critical skills training and the support needed for homeless women and children to establish a more stable future.
