The tribal Higher Education Department and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute have announced a certificate of art education program in Ignacio, beginning with the full trimester 2000. It will include an introduction to algebra, writing standard English, computer literacy, overview of world art, painting and drawing (I and II), sculpture, ceramics, introduction to photography and art marketing components. Students must be enrolled members of a tribe, have earned a GED or high school diploma, score at or above the minimum ACT Compass level and meet other requirements.
