Chief Illiniwek was only part of the controversy at University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Multiple vandalisms of public art at the Native American House on U of I’s campus caused Native Americans to speak out about these so-called “hate crimes,” according to an article posted on the American Indian Studies Program website at U of I. Robert Warrior, director of American Indian studies and the Native American House at U of I, will touch on these acts of vandalism in the Doudna Fine Arts Center Theater at 7 p.m. today.
