- The largest gathering of young Indigenous changemakers is a wrap in Washington, D.C. ICT’s Pauly Denetclaw has this report. There are over 200,000 alumni of UNITY.
- The Sakaogon Chippewa Community in Wisconsin, joined the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association, a trade and policy advocacy group. Only about 50 U.S. tribes are involved in Cannabis and industrial hemp industries.
- Recent numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed there is growth in the Indigenous population. According to the Bureau’s 2022 yearly estimate, the overall population in America has grown nearly a half percent to 333.2 million people. For Native American and Alaska Natives, the increase is about 93,000 people across Indian Country. That takes the estimated national total to 7.2 million Native people.
- Vice President Kamala Harris was in Arizona as part of the White House Investing in America Tour. She visited the Gila River Indian Community to highlight the administration’s commitment to Native Americans. Join us next week to hear from the vice president in a special ICT exclusive interview.
