The agency advises that all Americans six months and older receive the new shot from Pfizer and Moderna ahead of the fall season. Dr. Loretta Christensen says it’s important to get the updated shots when it becomes available to them.

  • The chairman of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe, Juan Garza, says its housing program keeps getting audited by the commission for no reason. He claimed the commission is asking for irrelevant information that far exceeds its authority. The Kickapoo housing program says its services are part of the tribe’s general welfare, making the money it gives to citizens tax exempt.
  • A plane crash in Alaska killed the husband of U.S. Congresswoman Mary Peltola. Eugene “Buzzy” Peltola Jr. died Wednesday morning in a plane he was piloting, according to a statement from Representative Peltola’s chief of staff. Of Yup’ik and Tlingit descent, Eugene Peltola was an enrolled citizen of the Orutsaramiut Native Council of Bethel.
  • In Minnesota, a celebration last weekend centered around Native athletes at a Hall of Fame ceremony. ICT’s Stewart Huntington has the story.
  • Reporting from the New York Times shows Indigenous knowledge ways helped save structures and potentially lives. A fire prevention zone created by a local First Nations logging company stopped a fire that was heading toward a lakeside tourist spot, Kelowna, British Columbia, with a population of 222,000 last month.
