Say no dirty side-deal! Join us this week for a digital rally co-hosted by Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) and Indigenous Environmental Network (IEN) to fight against the handout to the gas and oil industry, the Permitting Reform Bill.
Written by the American Petroleum Institute, the bill would destroy protections in place under the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act. It silences most affected communities from speaking up against proposed extractive projects and edges them out of the judiciary process, working in direct opposition to much needed climate action.
While the bill is touted by Senators Schumer (D-NY) and Manchin (D-WV), others like Senator Sanders and Representative Grijalva are fighting back. The decision will be made by the Senate this week. To keep it from going through we need to make our voices heard now.
