Indigenous Environmental Network
On Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 a group named “MMIW&P of California” is gifting a red tipi to the Bemidji MMIW 218 group in honor of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Two-Spirits, Children and Men.
Data collection has begun to show what Indigenous peoples have long said, pipeline man camps bring increased human trafficking and violence to nearby Indigenous communities. There is evidence that trafficking by pipeline workers has already occurred along the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline in northern Minnesota. In late February two Enbridge workers were arrested and charged in a human trafficking bust in Itasca County.
