U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs
Yesterday, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, led a legislative hearing to receive testimony on:
- S. 4104, the Hualapai Tribal Water Rights Settlement Act of 2022.
- S. 4439, the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam Sacred Lands Act.
- H.R. 5221, the Urban Indian Health Confer Act.
The committee heard from Department of the Interior Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management Jason Freihage, Indian Health Service Deputy Director Benjamin Smith, Hualapai Tribe Chairman Damon Clarke, Karuk Tribe Chairman Russell Atteberry, and Indian Health Board of Minneapolis Chief Executive Officer Patrick Rock.
