Stewart Huntington landed his first newspaper job in 1979 in New York City and has been a reporter/editor ever since in California, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Minnesota and Colorado. He spent a decade covering Indian Country in South Dakota for KOTA TV and served as Press Secretary for the state’s Attorney General where he helped initiate the first smudging in the offices of the Division of Criminal Investigation. A favorite clip comes from a story published 20 years ago in famed Lakota journalist Tim Giago’s newspaper. Giago founded Indian Country Today which today is ICT.
