At 130 years old, for Bacone to make history is a headline. History Professor Dr. Russel Lawson captured such a moment this summer as the school’s first ever Fulbright Scholar. Sponsored by U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, Fulbright sends some 800 U.S. faculty and professionals to 140 countries to lecture, research, or participate in seminars.
Lawson applied for the “big challenge” a year ago. “Not too many people become Fulbright Scholars,” he said, “so I feel happy, humble and blessed by it.” Lawson will travel to Brock University in Ontario, Canada and represent the United States.
