In reading recent articles of Cherokee racial definitions, I must say as a descendant of slaves who intermarried with Cherokee nation members, it’s a shame that as a mixed, so-called Indian, I am now being denied any cultural connection to the tribe. Especially now that I have begun to accept this heritage, I am suddenly dismissed as nothing. What a country!
