The winners of the 8th Annual Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Gingerbread House Contest have been announced. Children and adults were welcome to submit a creation inspired by a Pueblo village, house, community, church, or historic building. Each structure had to be entirely edible and contest creations were displayed in a veritable village through January 8.
Visitors were encouraged to cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award sponsored by Isleta Resort and Casino from mid-December through January 3. Winners were announced January 6 with a combined $700 in prizes awarded.
Adult People’s Choice winner – $500

Children’s People’s Choice winner – $200
Rachel Mayfield, 6 years old (Cochiti Pueblo)
The contest was formally judged the week of December 5 by prominent Pueblo artists and elders as well as business leaders from the Albuquerque community. Those winners were announced December 14 with a combined $2,500 in prizes awarded.

The IPCC’s 8th Annual Gingerbread House Contest was its most successful to date with more than 70 submissions. Well done to all who entered and congratulations to the winners.
The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is a world-class museum and cultural center located in Albuquerque’s historic Indian School District.
