Julius Badoni is a Navajo artist who grew up on the reservation painting his representation of life. “We never played with any computers or watched TV on the reservation,” he said. “We created our own games.” That creativity stayed with him when he moved to Phoenix and studied at Arizona State University, as did the problems he saw as a child. Today, he tries to make a difference by painting murals about his experiences and using his paintings to teach others about remote problems they may not understand. “My murals have a provocative message for the new generations of Navajos,” he said. “I want to tell them to remember our history and change our present.”
