With an education in biology from Iowa State and the University of South Dakota, Jim Stone has the right background for the Intertribal Bison Cooperative’s mission: Offering technical assistance to the tribal herds across the country. His job managing the Yankton Sioux buffalo herd also was a plus. But Stone is discovering his job as executive director for Rapid City-based ITBC melds science and culture in ways he never anticipated.
