The 18-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson was one of many celebrities to hit the stage of the 59th 2017 Grammy Awards at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. As Paris Jackson came to the stage to introduce The Weeknd and Daft Punk performances, she used the moment to deliver a shout-out to the NoDAPL water protectors.
In the midst of the applause greeting her, Jackson exclaimed, “We could really use this kind of excitement at a pipeline protest, guys! Hashtag NoDAPL.”
This is not the first time Paris Jackson has voiced support of NoDAPL in the wake of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approval of the easement permit that allows for the completion of the Dakota Access pipeline.

In Instagram and Snapchat posts, Paris Jackson displayed a photo of a Thunderbird tattoo and explained the artwork was designed by Stephanie Big Eagle.

Paris Jackson also shared a screen capture of the tattoo design and the associated GoFundMe page benefitting NoDAPL water protectors at Standing Rock.

Social media also responded to the Paris Jackson shout-out, mostly on a positive note.
