Indian Country Today
The world of sports, as with the world in general, has battled through the COVID-19 pandemic and its variants to the best of its ability.
Unlike in 2020, leagues far and wide tried to bring a little normalcy back to the fold by bringing fans back to the stands and enacting protocols to deal with outbreaks; making 2021 a sports year like none other.
Throughout Indian Country, Indigenous athletes left their marks on their respective fields of play as well.
From Indigenous athletes bringing home medals at the Olympic and Paralympic games to Native high school seniors playing football at U.S. Bank Stadium to tribes getting into the sports betting market.
