- Native Hawaiian communities on the island of Maui in Hawai’i are picking up the pieces after wildfires that have left over a hundred people dead. The destruction leaves the Lahaina wildfire as the deadliest of its kind in over a century. Lahaina was not just a popular tourist attraction, but it was once the capital of the Kingdom of Hawai’i.
