Ledger art has become a popular style across various tribes. John Isaiah Pepion from the Blackfeet Nation shared the history and significance behind the art form with ICT’s Paris Wise.
Award-winning poet Kinsale Drake has spread her love of writing and literature through her organization called the NDN Girls Book Club, which has been featured in Teen Vogue. Kinsale joined us in our studio where she gave us a performance of her poem titled “Put on that KTNN.”
Moving on to more spoken word, this year marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Indigenous rappers Moo Moo Fresh and Tall Paul reflect on their own start — and how they and other Native artists have been impacted by the music.
