According to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, there are only 58 domestic violence shelters in the country to serve 547 federally recognized tribes. Paula Julian is the Senior Policy Specialist for the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center. She has more than 25 years experience working on violence against women issues, especially Native women.
The city of St. Paul, Minnesota is coming to terms with land that was turned into a park in 1892 but is now being recognized as a burial site for at least seven tribes. That’s just one story Kalle Benallie has reported on recently. She joins us today to tell us more about Indian Mounds Park.
