On June 4 in New York City, the SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee hosted a candid conversation with star Native actor Chaske Spencer, a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes, who discussed his life and career on stage and screen. Afterward, Spencer mixed and mingled with fellow performers, broadcasters and filmmakers as well as representatives from event co-sponsors the American Indian Community House, AMERINDA (American Indian Artists, Inc), the Mixed Phoenix Theatre Group and the Eagle Project.
During his talk, Spencer shared many of the struggles of being a Native American actor he’s experienced, spoke about his upcoming projects and gave great advice to young Native actors looking to break into the industry.
