I would like to get the news out there about our Local School Board Member, Michael Kundu. While addressing the racial achievement gap he sent out an e-mail that he asked to be circulated. He made statements saying that there is a definitive factor in racial genetics and brain size and intellect.

He was using these comments to discuss where to spend educational dollars. He was making students of color out to be un-teachable and a lost cause….. therefore suggesting that school dollars go to upper middle class students who were more likely to succeed.

Now after the local tribe (Tulalip) and the local NAACP asked for his resignation, he is refusing to step down, he is saying that he is protected by his constitutional rights. This is from the latest article on him: “I need to make a decision whether to resign for the benefit of the students, or to stay on in order to fight the battle of protection of free speech,” he said.

So because he is protected by his constitution he is allowed to make racist comments and hold such a high position in education.

He was also a protester for Makah Whaling, when this happened he said, they were a dying race, and it was no wonder they succumb to settlers.

I would be interested in a 700-800 word story for an upcoming NFN section with a deadline of July 30.
