Haskell removes leader, names acting president
Tamarah Pfeiffer, Diné, was named acting president of Haskell Indian Nations University on Friday, according to the Indian Leader.
Pfeiffer replaces Ronald Graham. The news organization reported Friday that Pfeiffer will assume the role immediately.
In April, the school’s Faculty Senate unanimously approved a vote of no-confidence in Graham.

Native Americans gathering to honor victims of violence
BOSTON (AP) – Native Americans are gathering in Boston on Friday to remember Indigenous peoples who have been killed, gone missing or subjected to violence.
The event outside the North American Indian Center in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood is part of a national week of action honoring missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Participants are being asked to wear red in a show of support.
At least two Native American Massachusetts women have been killed in recent years, according to organizers. One of them was Jalajhia Finklea, an 18-year-old Mashpee Wampanoag teen shot to death last year.
Instagram apologizes, MMIWG movement erased online
Many in Indian Country woke up Thursday to a blank Instagram page as their posts from less than 24 hours before, related to the missing and murdered Indigenous women epidemic, vanished
Hundreds of people began sharing messages that all or much of that was gone from Instagram’s stories feature.
Instagram announced the problem had been solved, and apologized by Thursday evening. “We’re sorry to all impacted, especially those raising awareness for important causes globally.”
