Hundreds gathered in front of the White House in September to protest Leonard Peltier’s imprisonment, which began in 1976. ICT’s Pauly Denetclaw was at the Washington, D.C. rally

The peaceful protest ended with multiple arrests. Among the 35 taken into custody were actor Dallas Goldtooth, NDN Collective CEO Nick Tilson, and National Congress of American Indians President Fawn Sharp.

Lia Abeita-Sanchez spends countless hours tending to the land on the traditional homelands of the Isleta people in New Mexico. That’s because she is a New Mexico certified chile farmer. Aliyah Chavez sat down with her recently to talk about this year’s crop, and what exactly goes into the food that has sustained her nation and many others for centuries.

Jim Warne was a talented and successful athlete. He was recently inducted into the North American Indigenous Sports Hall of Fame, but more important to him than accolades from the field is his work for the Oyate—for his people. ICT’s Stewart Huntington sat down with him at home in San Diego in September.
