The National Science Foundation has funded one of two outposts of the Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Yuma. An Indigenous law professor is applying Indigenous values to his work on tribal constitutions. Stewart Huntington caught up with Richard Monette and learned that those values are also relevant in and outside of Native communities.

All nine Oregon tribes have signed historic co-management pacts with state wildlife officials. The model is bringing Indigenous knowledge and practices to salmon habitat restoration efforts the state had all but given up on. Stewart Huntington explored this development last spring when the Coquille tribe became the first nation to enter the pact with the state.
