Overview Highlights Committee’s Work Last Congress
Yesterday, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), chair of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, released overview of the Committee’s work last Congress. The Committee formally organized for the new Congress today.
“Last Congress, we secured the biggest federal investment in Native communities in U.S. history, protected essential Indian health care services from funding disruption, restored Tribal jurisdiction and expanded federal resources to help keep Native women and families safe in the Violence Against Women Act, and passed 18 bills that were signed into law by President Biden,” said Chair Schatz. “I look forward to building on this historic progress as we begin our business for the new Congress.”
